    Promenade Beaches in the Canaries

48 verified beaches across the Canaries backed by a seafront promenade, with sunbeds, bars and restaurants and easy access.

Curated by the Beach Atlas team · Updated July 2026

This is the developed, serviced side of the Canary coast. Every beach below is backed by a seafront promenade — the paseo that turns a strip of sand into a place to spend a whole day: sunbeds and umbrellas, bars and restaurants a few steps away, and easy, level access from the road or the hotels behind. That makes it the practical default for families, resort stays, travelers without a car full of gear, and anyone who would rather solve food and shade on arrival.

These are the opposite of the wild coves. If you want the quiet, unserviced end of the coast instead, that is a different trip — start from the wider guide index. For the highest-rated sand on each island, compare the best beaches.

    Where promenade beaches cluster

The strongest promenade clusters in our inventory sit along the resort and town seafronts of the four main islands. On Gran Canaria, Playa de Mogán is edged by a pedestrianised promenade lined with shops and eateries. Tenerife has seafront strips like Los Tarajales, backed by a promenade of restaurants and shops. On Lanzarote, Playa Grande runs behind a promenade of hotels and restaurants, and Fuerteventura has resort fronts such as Playa Blanca, part of a resort area with a promenade and nearby amenities.

A promenade is not one thing

Some of these are resort-style seafronts with rows of loungers and a wall of bars; others are working town beaches where the paseo is where locals walk in the evening and the amenities are simpler. The shared baseline is the promenade and the easy access, not the mood. If mood is the deciding factor, cross-check the best beaches or browse the full guide index for the quieter, wilder archetypes.
