Curated by the Beach Atlas team · Updated July 2026

La Graciosa is a tiny, car-free islet at the northern tip of the Canaries, just across a narrow strait from Lanzarote and reached by ferry from Órzola to the little port of Caleta de Sebo. Part of the protected Chinijo Archipelago, it has no paved roads — only sandy tracks — and its beaches range from calm, clear coves on the sheltered south side to wild, current-swept strands on the exposed north and west. Browse every verified beach on the island in La Graciosa.

Most of these beaches are unserviced, so bring water, food and shade — there is little in the way of facilities once you leave Caleta de Sebo. This is a curated best-of; pick a coast below and check each beach page for conditions and how to reach it, as many need a long walk, a bike or a 4x4 along the tracks. Compare more of the archipelago on the best beaches pages or plot your route on the map.

    The calm south and east

The sheltered, leeward side of the island holds its swimming beaches. Playa Francesa is a white-sand beach on the south coast whose leeward position keeps the water calm and crystal-clear, with views across to the neighbouring islets — the pick for an easy swim. Playa de La Lambra is a sheltered golden-sand bay on the southeast coast near Caleta de Sebo, protected from the Atlantic swell, while Playa de La Cantería on the east coast has golden sand and gentle-to-moderate waves, and Playa Baja del Ganado is a tranquil, less-exposed stretch good for a quieter day.

The wild coves of the north

The north coast is where La Graciosa turns spectacular and rough. Playa de Las Conchas is the island's showpiece — a remote, wild beach known for its natural beauty and lack of facilities, but with strong waves and powerful currents that make swimming dangerous. Nearby La Cocina is exposed to the Atlantic and the trade winds, suiting experienced swimmers only, while White Cove Beach and the remote Playa del Risco, reached on foot or by off-road vehicle, are golden-sand strands best admired when the swell is down.

    The rugged west coast

The west coast is a line of exposed, undeveloped coves that face the open Atlantic. Caleta del Burro is a secluded sandy cove with moderate waves that shift with the wind and no facilities at all, Playa del Salado is an undeveloped, serene sandy beach often ruffled by swell, and Barranco de los Conejos sits by a ravine with wavy conditions. Round on the somewhat more sheltered west, Playa de La Laja gets more moderate waves thanks to the island's orientation — the calmest of the western group, though still undeveloped.
